The Sky Horse
By Iseult Murphy
Dreaming, I wandered from my bedroom and roamed the countryside far from my sleeping body. I found myself lying in
a grassy paddock, the scent of jasmine in the air and the nightjars croaking in the distance. All was peaceful. I lay back,
gazing upwards. Out of the moonless night sky the stars gathered and coalesced, forming a being of light and shadow. Orion’s
belt became the mane, the Seven Sisters its hooves, Aquila its flowing tail. Its eyes were shining diamonds twinkling
down upon me. It raised its bejewelled head and whinnied silently to the cosmos. Then the night mare galloped across the universe
leaving the galaxy empty above my head.
